Well, it had to happen. Living in New York means snow at some point and we were long overdue. Of course approximately 16 – 20 inches over two days felt like more than just a gentle introduction into winter. Mother nature has a crazy sense of humor… After shoveling lots of snow, and then some more snow, I managed to get out on the roads and over to Green Lakes State Park right around sundown. I was surprised that the lake wasn’t frozen over given the amount of snow that fell, but I was glad because I think it added a nice touch to the landscape.
This picture was taken with my Canon 5D Mark III using the following settings: Manual exposure, ISO 250, 73 mm, 5 seconds at f/20. The slower shutter speed helped to smooth out the wavelets on the water. Please feel free to leave a comment and let me know if you like the picture or if you think there are things I could have done to improve it.
I like the layers and depth in this shot
